Recap: Round 5, 17th May
Round 5 was a fairly successful one for the Saints with 7 of our 10 teams picking up wins.
Importantly, our firsts picked up their first win of the year and moved off the bottom of the ladder with a good away win over Westgarth 8-2. A2 also defeated Westgarth 8-1 to bounce back and move within striking distance of the top 4. Both A1 & A2 will need to keep the good form rolling next week with a tough round against GMBC scheduled.
A3 & A4 hosted local rivals Knox but were unable to come away with a win in either game. The 0-7 (A3) and 1-8 (A4) scorelines don’t look great but there were plenty of positives to take away and it shouldn’t take long before both teams get back in the the winners list.
C1 & C2 with good wins against Footscray.
C Grade 11-0. Aaron again was very good on the hill with the field doing all they could to prevent runs from scoring. We got it done with the bat with multiple hits by most guys again.
The Reserves won 19 – 5 with Steve Maggs and Cam Ludowyke each smashing the ball. Maggsy with the lazy cycle and some…. Great effort by Declan High on the hill to start before Maso and Painter finished it off.
The ‘Old Boys’ travelled to Knox and continued their recent good form with a 15-5 win.
The Under 17s fell short 3-4 against local rivals Heathmont.
However the news was better for our other two junior sides. The Under 15s had a 15-4 victory against Heathmont while our Under 13s continued their great start to the season with a 9-0 win against Forest Hill.
A reminder to everyone to get on board with our Team App and send through any news or results from the games you are in or watching. Believe it or not the rest of the club actually want to know how your team is going!
