Michael Oxworth – Life Member #25
It is with great pleasure the the Ringwood Saints Baseball Club can announce that Michael Oxworth has been awarded Life Membership after many years of valued service to the Club. Michael is now the second generation of his family, joining father Stan as a Life Member of the Saints.
Michael has had a 30-year involvement with the Club starting as a junior in 1994. He started playing senior baseball in 1998 and at the end of this 2024 winter season he has played 465 senior games for the Club.
Michael was the Club Champion in the 2008 season. He is a very strong and reliable left-hand batter. This helped him being included as a designated batter in our 1998 – 2007 team of the decade as well as being selected on the bench for our 50-year team.
On the field, Michael has coached junior teams for 2006 and 2007.
Off the field Michael has been a huge contributor.
In 2000 he was awarded the Phil Barclay Best Junior Clubman and in 2002 he was awarded the Fred Rogers Best Clubman.
He has been on the Committee for 18 years from 2002 through to 2021 (only missing 2010 and 2012). For the past 23 years Michael has been the Club’s groundskeeper. This has involved getting the grounds and diamonds ready pre-season, improving the playing surface of outfields and infields and undertaking the mowing duties during the seasons.
Michael has also been a supporter of the Club in being a participant of many working bees, acting as umpire for other senior and junior games, being on the 50-year anniversary sub-committee in 2017 and 2018 and providing general support when need.
The Committee has no hesitation in bestowing a well deserved Life Membership.
On behalf of everyone at the Saints – Thank you Michael!
